Four Turkish Universities
Inked Pacts with USTM for Collaborative Research

Mile, Ri Bhoi, 13 July 2018: With the objective of
development of education and research, the University of
Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) has signed four
MoUs with four premier universities in Turkey during 9
to 12 July for academic and research collaborations.
The MoUs were signed by Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Rector,
Uskudar University, Istanbul; Prof. Dr. Musa Duman,
Rector, Fatih Sultan Mehmet University, Istanbul; Prof
Dr Metin Dogan, Rector, Ankara Yildirim Beyazit
University, Ankara, and Prof Dr. Mustafa Sahin, MD,
Rector, Selcuk University, Konya, Turkey with Mahbubul
Hoque, Chancellor, USTM, India. The USTM team was also
represented by Prof Gous Mashkoor Khan, Jawaharlal Nehru
University, Prof Suhail Sabir from Aligarh Muslim
University and Prof Mohd Akhtar Siddiqui from Jamia
Millia Islamia.
Several high level meetings took place during the
weeklong visit including the meeting with the President
of Yunus Emre Institute, Ankara, Government of Turkey
and meeting with the President of the Council of Higher
Education where it was decided that concerned
departments of respective universities will institute
fellowship and scholarship for students to go for duel
certification by the collaborative universities.
The MoUs with the four universities in Turkey focus on
cutting edge research in the field of medical and health
science, promotion of joint research works including
exchange of faculty and research members, development of
student exchange programme and organization of
programmes granting duel diplomas, cooperation in
publication activities and cultural activities,
organization of joint academic and scientific activities
such as conferences, seminars, symposiums and
congresses. The pacts also emphasize on humanity and
cultural diversity, Joint Degree Programmes, exchange of
researchers, appointing joint supervision and external
examiners for masters and PhD thesis, joint review of
scientific research, joint language courses etc. Several
other activities have been planned under scientific
research collaborations.
All the four Turkish universities have appreciated the
effort of USTM for development in the field of education
and innovative research. “USTM is determined to fulfill
its promises and move forward firmly with its mission to
make the University world class by 2030”, stated M Hoque,
Chancellor of the University. |
