M Hoque, Chairman ERDF receives prestigious NEDFi Award
Guwahati,
August10, 2015: A journey with one computer and 4 student
of IGNOU providing tuitions and with cash of Rs 85 Shri
Mahbubul Hoque started his entrepreneurial effort to build
institution in the year 2001. Simultaneously he started
assembling computers to generate fund for expansion and
pay rental of the house at Kahilipara. In the year 2005
Shri M Hoque created Education Research & Development
Foundation (ERDF) and in the year 2009 started the
engineering college which is known popularly toady as
Regional Institute of Science and Technology (RIST), which
approached North Eastern Development Finance Corporation
Ltd (NEDFi) for project financing. Seeing the successful
journey from 4 computer to an engineering college and zeal
of the founder Shri Mahbubul Hoque, NEDFi sanctioned
initially Rs 10 crores to ERD Foundation for development
of infrastructure for RIST and subsequently another 7.5
crores was also sanctioned seeing the performances by ERDF.
NEDFi considered the initiative as successful
entrepreneurial model in this north eastern part of the
country and accordingly selected for ‘NEDFi Award 2015’.
The Founder and Chairman of ERD Foundation Shri Mahbabul
Hoque received the prestigious award from Shri B P Muktieh.,
the Chairman and Managing Director of NEDFi on August 9,
2015 in a colorful event at NEDFi house Guwahati.
With a vision to create a foundation to build the world
class institutions in this Northeast region, ERDF has
overcome many barriers in its way to establish a
University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya(USTM) in
the year 2012, and a Women’s college, two CBSE affiliated
schools, two professional colleges and a B.Ed College,
with the strength of 6500 students, 300 faculty members
and 350 non-teaching staffs.
Shri Mahbubul Hoque expressed his gratitude to NEDFi and
said that it will boost the level of commitment of entire
ERDF family to work with more dedication and enthusiasm in
spreading quality education in Northeast.
