2-DAY ISRO SPACE SCIENCE
EXHIBITION AT USTM INAUGURATED TODAY

Guwahati,11th September: The much
awaited 2-Day VIKRAM SARABHAI SPACE EXHIBITION (VSSE),
organized by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO),
Department of Space, Government of India in association
with University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya(USTM)
and Regional Institute of Science & Technology(RIST),
9th Mile has been inaugurated today on 11th September
2017 at 10:00am .The inaugural ceremony of the first
ever ISRO Space Science Exhibition in the state of
Meghalaya has been graced by Prof Amarjyoti Chaudhury,
CV Raman Chair Professor, USTM, Shri Mahbubul Haque,
Chancellor and Dr RK Sarma, Pro Vice Chancellor, USTM
including a host of eminent scientists, academicians and
other dignitaries from different educational
institutions including the people from various walks of
life.
The 2-Day VIKRAM SARABHAI SPACE EXHIBITION (VSSE) is
having set of about 20 static panels related to remote
sensing satellites and communication satellites, their
applications, about Chandrayan-1/Mars Mission, models of
camera of Mars Mission, satellite images; scale down
models of launch vehicles like PSLV & GSLV, various
satellite models of INSAT and IRS,OCM, Aryabhatta, RISAT,
etc and a working model showing satellites orbiting
around the earth. In addition to this there will various
video documentaries on launching and mars mission. For
students of 11th and 12th Science there is also a video
on how to join ISRO. Apart from all above mechanical
components, parts used in satellites are also displayed.
ISRO’s GEO portal-BHUVAN website is also being
demonstrated during the exhibition.
The exhibition hall has witnessed a large number of
students participated from various schools on its first
day and will also remain open from 10:00 am to 6:00pm on
12th September 2017 to accommodate the visitors coming
from various places especially the students and
faculties from schools, colleges and people from
different other institutions.
It is pertinent to mention that during the exhibition,
the ISRO scientists team is extending their sincere
effort to demonstrate the operation of various
satellites and other related mechanism which are
immensely benefit for the visitors especially the
budding students of the region who may be inspired to
know the wonderful work being done by ISRO.
