WORKSHOP ON CYBER SECURITY HELD AT RIST

25th April: A day long Workshop on “CYBER SECURITY” was conducted by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering of Regional Institute of Science & Technology, (RIST) 9th Mile in association with “GRATIA TECHNOLOGY” of Guwahati.
More than 100 budding engineering students of RIST, a premier institute of higher and technical education in the NE Region, took part in the workshop. In the workshop various issues of Cyber security was discussed by the experts & shown practically to the students, how to maintain the access control, confidentiality & message integrity. The different types of websites & email attack were discussed with the help of practical examples. Cyber Security is one of the most important domains for the future security in digital world.
Cyber security is the body of technologies, processes and practices designed to protect networks, computers, programs and data from attack, damage or unauthorized access. In a computing context, security includes both cyber security and physical security. The workshop highlighted the importance of the knowledge on Cyber Security since a proliferation of cyber attacks is causing increasing damage to companies, governments and individuals and therefore, it was emphasized that the organizations need to respond to this increased threat by adopting strict cyber security measures.
According to NASSCOM, India requires 70,000 cyber security expert in every year but currently only 30,000 cyber experts are usually coming out in a year.
