USTM, 19th May, 2017: The inaugural ceremony of the two-day national seminar on ‘Management, Commerce and Economics’ with a theme “Emerging Trends in Business & Economic Development in India with reference to North Eastern Region” organised by the Department of Business Administration, University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) in association with Department of Business Administration, Tezpur University and supported by ICSSR-NER, Shillong has geared up today at USTM campus. Dr R.M.Pant, Director, NIRD & PR was present as a Chief Guest to grace the inaugural program along with Mr Ashok Dutta, GM(T&I) Oil India Ltd, Mr Sabyasachi Roy, State Head, Jio Reliance, Prof Mukulesh Baruah, Director, AIM, Guwahati as guests of honor. Dr Amiya Kr Sarmah, Executive Director RGVN, Guwahati has delivered the key note address.
More than hundred academicians, professionals, researchers from various institutions like KIIT University, NEHU, Tripura University, Gauhati University, Tezpur University etc have joined as participants as well as presenter from all over the country and especially from NE region.
While addressing the audience Dr R.M.Pant congratulated the organisers for selecting a contemporary topic like emerging trends in business & economic development in such a platform for discussion and future prospects. Dr Pant said that the only thing which is constant is the ‘change’, which is very rapid in all sectors, those who will respond to the change will come out with flying colors. He also said that there is no dearth of resources in North East but due to the absence of right kind of business model for which NE is lagging behind.
In his address the Chancellor of USTM, Shri Mahbubul Hoque said that for more fruitful discussions professional and experts from the field of corporate, commerce and economics should be involved in this kind of national seminars apart from the academicians, so that it can benefit the society at large.
Dr P G Rao, the Vice Chancellor of USTM, Pro Vice Chancellor USTM, Dr RK Sarma, Prof, Mrinmoy Sarmah, , Prof Debabrata Das, Professor, Tezpur University, Prof.J.U Ahmed, NEHU, Prof Mukulesh Baruah, Director, AIM, along with the deans, senior professiors, HoD’s, faculty members and students were present on the inaugural ceremony.
A book on “Emerging Issues on Business” and the abstract volume of the present seminar were also released on the occasion.
